Page 15, 436 project
Page 15 is an installation comprising seven textile-based sculptures and is part of my ongoing project 436. The work is informed by the final page of an 1859 slave auction catalog. Due to the time-induced decay of this archival document, the names of the last seven enslaved people sold through one of the largest recorded slave auctions in U.S. history have faded from documented memory. Only twenty scattered words remain on the catalog’s final page. Through this work, I reimagine and pay homage to these seven individuals whose stories have been lost to history.
Page 15 was made possible by a 2025 NYSCA grant.
Additional support provided by a 2025 Loghaven Artist Residency Fellowship.
